Comparison of Machine-made charcoal, black and white charcoal

The competitive advantages in market of machine-made charcoal are as follows:

1.       The price of machine-made charcoal is lower than black and white charcoal;

2.       Machine-made charcoal is eco-friendly and pollution-free;

3.       Machine-made charcoal is difficult to explode;

4.       The calorific value of machine-made charcoal is higher;

5.       Machine-made charcoal has fix shapes, which is convenient to transport and store.

The advantage of machine-made charcoal is that it does not have pollution in the production process.

1.       Waste Residues

In the production process of machine-made charcoal, it does not add any additives or chemical drugs, so the product does not have any waste residues.

But activated carbon has heavy metals in the production process, so it has damages to the environment.

2.       Waste Liquors

Machine-made charcoal does not need water in the production process, but activated carbon need much water to activate and rinse in the process, so it is restricted by the national rules.

3.       Waste Gas

Machine-made charcoal will emission steam and other combustible gases. They can be recycled as fuel. But activated carbon will need some chemicals to activate such as zinc chloride, it can pollute the atmosphere.

Applications of Charcoal

1.       Metallurgical Industry

In the old days, charcoal is used to smelt iron ore. The charcoal iron has close grained texture and it does not have cracks. Due to its reducibility, charcoal can be used to reduction ore and smelt metal in metallurgical industry.

   In the production process of non-ferrous metal, charcoal is usually used as fluxing agent.

   Large quantity of charcoal can also be used to produce crystal silicon, but the charcoal should not have much ash content.

2.       Produce Carburizer

All the steel products required to have better hardness and abrasive resistance in the surface should be carburized. The carbon mixture that is used to carburize steel products is called carburizer.

3.       Produce SO2

Charcoal is the best material to make SO2. The charcoal should be hard, less ash content and moisture content. It also should have high fixed carbon content.

0.5   Ton charcoal will be needed to produce about 1 ton SO2.

4.       Press Charcoal Brick

      It is not very convenient to transport broker charcoal, but it will become good fuel by pressing them into charcoal    bricks. Charcoal bricks have advantages of lower hygroscopicity, larger specific gravity and higher calorific value. And in the    process, charcoal has high mechanical strength. Charcoal brick is suitable for metallurgy, mobile gasification furnace, etc.

5.       Charcoal desiccant

It is made up of many natural mineral substances. It does not have poison and damage and it is degradable eco-friendly desiccant. The moisture rate can reach above 50%.
